Research Facilities
CBRL Library
In addition to the book and journal collections there is an extensive map
library, and a computer network, including three PCs in the library dedicated for guest use with
printers and scanners (up to A3 paper size), dvd writer, internet access, all running Microsoft Office.
A fourth PC is available specifically for guests and researchers wishing to use
GIS and graphical design software, providing access to ArcGIS 9.2 (Arcview),
Adobe Illustrator CS2, and a variety of other applications.
The office fax machine can be used during office hours.
There are also several work rooms, which contain some limited equipment
including microscopes and scales. We hold archaeological reference collections
including animal bone, seeds, and some collections of ceramics and chipped
stone.
Storage space can be arranged for research material but CBRL does not provide a
long-term archive or repository.
Research space can be booked in advance by email with our
administrator
Field Stations
CBRL maintains two field stations. One is in southern Jordan at
Wadi Faynan where we have a small building adjacent to the new RSCN hotel. This field station has accommodation (and camping equipment for
larger teams), work and storage space. The second field station is in Homs in
central Syria, where we have a small apartment block containing a number of
flats. In addition to the accommodation we have a supply of excavation equipment
and storage space.
For further information and bookings, please contact the
administrator in Amman.
More details are available in our
Welcome Booklet.
