Hostel Research Facilities
Our History Contact Us

The Kenyon Institute is a late Ottoman building situated ten minutes’ walk from Jerusalem’s Old City and a number of other research facilities and libraries, overlooking the Wadi al-Jooz in East Jerusalem. The Institute provides research facilities and hostel accommodation to students of all Near Eastern academic fields, both ancient and modern.

The Kenyon Institute Hostel

Up to 11 people can stay in the hostel, in a mixture of single, double and shared rooms. These are built around a central salon, which has a drinks fridge, bookshelves, cable television, and a log fire for the winter. All rooms are well fitted for study, with desks and free wire / wireless internet (which also covers most of the institute balconies and garden). Sheets, duvets, blankets and towels are provided, and the hostel is cleaned four times a week. Residents share two bathrooms, and have free use of the washing machines and clothes dryer. International calls can be made to and from the hostel telephone, using phonecards which are supplied on arrival (see Contact Us for the relevant numbers). Mobile phones are also available for hire for £0.50 per day plus call costs.

Residents cook for themselves in a large, well-equipped kitchen on the ground floor, where they have their own fridge and cupboard space. A small self-service breakfast is provided, and the kitchen is kept stocked with basic supplies: tea, coffee, milk, bread, preserves, spices etc.

Residents at the Kenyon Institute have 24-hour access to all institute facilities, including the library.
