Following Dr Yuri Stoyanov's departure from the Kenyon Institute to
focus on his research, we are pleased to announce that Dr Jaimie Lovell will be
transferring to replace him and carry on the good work.
CBRL-funded and affiliated projects in Jordan this autumn included the second
season of the Ritual Landscapes Project,
directed by Jaimie Lovell (CBRL). Some images
can be seen to the left.
In spring 2008, the Reading University/CBRL
Wadi Faynan 16 project will return
to the field.

conference seeks to examine the phenomenon of tourism in the Middle East and
North Africa region and its changing relationships with heritage and
culture.

British Institute Amman Social Sciences Research Seminars The Council for
British Research in the Levant hosts a monthly discussion group/informal
seminar series on the last Monday of each month, beginning in February 2007,

UK - Middle East Capacity Sharing Partnerships In an initiative developed by the British Academy's Middle East Panel,
two awards of up to £10,000 a year for up to three years are available to
support the development of ongoing links between UK and Middle Eastern
research centres or institutions, within the humanities and social sciences.
The link would be built around a specific research theme of mutual interest.
This could be carried forward through visits in both directions; workshops;
seminars and lecture programmes; collaborative research; and joint
publications. The programme might form part of either institution's training
programme and will ideally involve participation from more than one Middle
Eastern institution, and might also involve more than one department/
university/ group/ research centre in the UK.

Newton International Fellowships The Newton International Fellowships will be overseen by the British
Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society and aim to
attract the most promising post-doctoral researchers working overseas in the
fields of humanities, engineering, natural and social sciences.
The Fellowships will offer researchers funding to work for two years with a
UK research institution, thus establishing long term international
collaborations. The funding will be distributed in the form of 50 research
fellowships, awarded annually, each providing support of up to £100,000 for
a two year placement.
