Treasures of the Future

May 17th– end July 2005
CBRL was proud to support this EU exhibition (May 17-end July) on the contribution of European scholars to archaeology in Jordan organised by the Dutch EU Presidency in Amman together with the Khalid Shoman Foundation (Darat al Funun). The opening ceremony (see pics opposite) on May 17 was conducted by His Excellency the Dutch Ambassador Gajus Scheltma and the Honorable Mr Beltagi. The exhibition showcased European projects in Jordan and gave an insight into the value of their presence to Jordan.

Displays covered 50 projects from 12 European countries organised under eight main themes: Survey, Excavation, Archaeology in the Petra Region, New technology, Conservation and presentation (and its relevance to tourism), Training Publications

Darat al Funun
Darat al Funun has generously laid its facilities at our disposal. Part of the Khalid Shoman Foundation, it is situated in old Amman with a spectacular view of the citadel. It has indoor exhibition spaces in two houses dating to the 1920s, with four terraces and the ruins of a Byzantine church. The Foundation has a deep rooted interest in conservation. Please refer to www.daratalfunun.org for more information.
